Mind you, when you look at the full numbers, it really isn't bad at all, not unlike flying...

After spending the length of time I just have concentrating on lift accidents you start to get a skewed view of the dangers. To give all these events some context here’s some stats from the US in the average year:

• 350,000,000 - Ski lift rides

• 12,000,000 - Skiers/snowboarders

• 38 - Skiing/snowboarding fatalities

• 0.33 - Ski lift fatalities

I’ll take those odds.
