Bangalore airport - Chaos Unfolding Shortly

From Daily News & Analysis -
(The) runway at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) will be closed between 10.30 am and 5.30 pm from March 11 to April 3 for maintenance...
“With the help of Air-Traffic Control (ATC), the maximum number of flights will be accommodated in the hours immediately preceding and following the closure hours,” they said.
Oh, did I mention that there is only one (count it, One) runway at BIA?  And they're effectively taking it offline?  And Bangalore is, kinda, a bit of an important city vis-a-vis business and travel?  Turns out, its to avoid a safety disaster
The resurfacing is necessary to avoid a safety disaster.
“The weekly maintenance which is carried out by shutting the runway for four hours every week is not enough to maintain the runway and if the resurfacing work is not initiated the runway could crack up at some points and cave in,” sources said.
Aviation experts said any runway built complying with international standards should last a minimum of 8-10 years. But the BIA has taken up resurfacing within four years of commercial operations.
This should get very entertaining very fast, ne c'est pas?

But, not to worry, the fine folks at BIA have you covered

During the closure time, the airport will offer various options for the passengers to explore. Besides free Wi-Fi connectivity, passengers will be able to avail packages from nearby resorts for power naps and dining.
Additionally, the airport, along with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, will arrange quick tours to nearby places including, Nandi Hills. Tickets for these trips can be booked at the arrival lounge enquiry desk.
Whew, I was afraid that my travel was going to be impacted.  Guess not, since I can just have a power-nap instead.

Oh, btw, in case you weren't aware, BIA is in the middle of nowhere, kinda like Dulles 20 years ago :-)
