The Ikea Effect - In Product Design

The Ikea Effect - people value things that they put together themselves - and the surprising part - even more than already-put-together products of higher quality.
Well, we kind of already knew that, its just that there was never any conclusive study showing why Ikea is a multi-billion dollar company, and why we put together Ekby Bjärnum  shelves.
So, I hear you saying, So, what does that have to do with Product Design?
Well, if you are like us, and in the business of providing services that require some level of customization, this is evidence showing that the stickiness that comes with personalization isn't just something that is made up by marketers, it has a basis in science.

Its good to know that sometimes, there is hard data backing up the things that we do :-)
