Oh Noes! Atlantis *not* found!
Remember when Google Earth "found Atlantis"? As The Telegraph put it

Thats right, it was a "data error", and not Atlantis after all. Then I suspect a vast government conspiracy - in fact, since there is no data showing a conspiracy, it just goes to show how good the conspirators are! They will not keep us from the truth! We shall overthrow our robotic overlords!
Turns out, it wasn't actually true, and was all just a big mistake. The network of criss-cross lines is 620 miles off the coast of north west Africa near the Canary Islands on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. The perfect rectangle – which is around the size of Wales – was noticed on the search giant's underwater exploration tool by an aeronautical engineer who claims it looks like an "aerial map" of a city. The underwater image can be found at the co-ordinates 31 15'15.53N 24 15'30.53W.Last night Atlantis experts said that the unexplained grid is located at one of the possible sites of the legenda

And from NOAAThe newest version of Google Earth includes more accurate imagery in several key areas of ocean using data collected by research cruises over the past three years.[...] For example, the updated, more precise data corrects a grid-like artifact on the seafloor that was misinterpreted in the popular press as evidence of the lost city of Atlantis off the coast of North Africa.
While these formations are human-made, they are only made of data. In other words, there are no physical lines on the ocean floor. These lines are artifacts of the ocean floor mapping process.Oceanographers use sonar—sound waves—to map the ocean bottom. These sonar readings are typically taken by ships towing submersible devices that send out sound waves. The sound travels through the ocean, bounces off the seafloor, then travels back to the ships. This process creates a sound 'image' of the peaks and valleys on the ocean bottom.
