Cloud - Dot-Com all over again
So, it looks like Pantheon is going to provide cloud-based site-management using Drupal.
I know, I know, there is a lot of press about how the current 'social' craze is not unlike the dot-com boom. But this, this, is the dot-com era all over again. Back then, we (at Proxicom, and other places) were busy building these new-fangled web-sites for clients, building out hosting centers for these web-sites, and whenever possible, even providing consulting services on how to build web-sites.
Now, replace the word web-site above with site-management tools. See how easy it was? You suddenly went from a failed dot-com business plan to a completely successful "social-boom" business plan!
That said, I have to admit that to the uninitiated, Drupal/Joomla/whatever are not exactly the easiest things to use. I do wish Pantheon all the best - they'll probably make a gazillion dollars.
